Teaching English as a Foreign Language (1 credit hour)
Teaching English as a Foreign Language is a skill that is developed in this course. A review of English grammar is given. The student is taught how to analyze the linguistic structure of the language spoken by his students. The teacher will then know where the phonetic and grammatical structures of their students’ own language will likely hinder them in their learning to speak English.
The student is taught how to make lesson plans for class participation that will minimize these hindrances. Courses in English grammar, Phonetics, Phonemics, Morphology, Syntax, Cultural Anthropology, and Language Learning Principles are prerequisites for taking the TEFL course.
